[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Eun-young, a proportional representative of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, demanded on the 7th during the administrative audit of the Mokpo, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Wando, Jindo, and Sinan Education Support Offices by the Jeonnam Provincial Council Education Committee, "To operate after-school programs with substance, the treatment of instructors must be improved first."
Councilor Jang stated, "It is necessary to increase instructor fees to enhance the quality of after-school educational activities," and added, "Improving the treatment that guarantees the teaching rights of after-school instructors is important for high-quality classes."
She continued, "After-school instructor allowances are usually paid between 30,000 and 50,000 KRW per hour, varying according to commuting distance and program characteristics, but the treatment is very poor."
Furthermore, she emphasized, "Due to low instructor fees, it is difficult to find instructors for island, remote, and rural schools," and added, "The fees should be increased to attract excellent external instructors."
