Mokpo National University Signs MOU for Joint Operation of Offshore Wind Power and Capstone Design
Training of Experts and Technology Development for Establishing the Offshore Wind Power Industry Ecosystem
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] The 3rd phase Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Leading University Development Project Group at National Mokpo University in Jeonnam (hereinafter LINC 3.0 Project Group) held a 'Joint Operation Agreement Ceremony for Offshore Wind Power Shared Collaboration Capstone Design' with seven universities in the Honam-Jeju region LINC 3.0 Project Groups and the Danish offshore wind power development investment company CIP/COP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners/Copenhagen Offshore Partners) on the 4th.
Through this business agreement, the seven universities including Mokpo University, Dongshin University, Woosuk University, Jeonju University, Jeju National University, Honam University, and Mokpo National Maritime University, along with CIP/COP, promised mutual cooperation in research and development in the offshore wind power sector, joint operation of capstone design programs, and support for offshore wind power research and education.
The event was attended by the heads of each university's LINC 3.0 Project Group, Sabrina Mierson Meineke, Deputy Head of the Danish Embassy in Korea, CIP Korea Corporation co-CEOs Yoo Tae-seung and Jesper Holst, and other university and corporate officials.
Yoo Tae-seung, CEO of CIP Korea Corporation, stated, "The transition to renewable energy has emerged as an international task due to the climate and energy security crisis, and advanced technology and professional workforce development in the offshore wind power sector are essential for our country as well." He added, "We will work hand in hand with universities to contribute to nurturing future offshore wind power experts."
Lee Sang-chan, head of Mokpo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, "Through this agreement, we will operate continuous shared collaboration programs between the seven universities and CIP/COP to establish an education system and framework for training specialized personnel in offshore wind power, create a domestic offshore wind power industry ecosystem, strengthen industry-academia cooperation networks, and strive to fulfill the university's leading role in supporting regional industrial growth."

Meanwhile, Mokpo University LINC 3.0 Project Group (headed by Lee Sang-chan) has been accelerating efforts to create large-scale quality jobs and nurture professional talent through the future new industry of offshore wind power, including holding an offshore wind power briefing session linked with Jeollanam-do and the Offshore Wind Power ICC for Jeonnam-type win-win jobs in May.
