LS Electric announced on the 7th that it signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of a renewable energy power grid model and complex to achieve carbon neutrality and improve power grid utilization in island areas with Sinan County, KHNP, Hyundai Glovis, NH International, Mokpo MBC, and others. The signing ceremony held on the 4th was attended by about 50 officials including Kim Jong-woo, President of LS Electric; Park Woo-ryang, Mayor of Sinan County; Hwang Ju-ho, President of KHNP; Kim Jeong-hoon, President of Hyundai Glovis; Kim Ho-seok, CEO of NH International; and Lee Soon-yong, President of Mokpo MBC.
LS Electric will proceed with the Sinan County renewable energy complex development project in three phases in collaboration with the partner companies and institutions. The first phase involves a demonstration of a hybrid renewable energy complex linked to standalone grid island areas’ internal combustion generators (diesel) in Sinan County. This project encompasses solar power, wind power, used batteries, salinity gradient energy, and desalination. The second phase is to build a 100-megawatt (MW) hybrid power complex capable of bidirectional production of electricity and hydrogen. This power complex will include solar power, wind power, green hydrogen, and used batteries. The final third phase will focus on developing marine energy utilization technologies such as salinity gradient energy.
LS Electric also agreed to cooperate on technology development for optimizing transmission line efficiency through research on grid connection lines for large-scale hybrid renewable power generation and establishing a stable operation system.
