Homeplus planned the Senior Market to promote the purchase of senior-produced products made by the Ministry of Health and Welfare's senior job market-type business group. Products can be purchased by accessing Homeplus online, offering a variety of items such as food and daily necessities at reasonable prices. Until the 16th of this month, all items are up to 50% off, and free shipping is available even when purchasing just one item.
This collaboration is part of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last April between Homeplus, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Jeonju City to create senior jobs and develop sales channels for senior-produced products. Following the opening of the first non-metropolitan senior cafe, 'Homeplus Cafe Village No.1,' at the Homeplus Jeonju branch last September, Homeplus created a public-private cooperation model to promote the purchase of senior-produced products by opening the Senior Market online.
Homeplus is actively supporting the vigorous sales of these products by partially relaxing the entry screening process for the Senior Market and setting low commission fees. It is also making efforts to promote and develop sales channels for products produced by local senior companies.
In addition, Homeplus operates senior-exclusive courses such as senior digital classes and silver barista certification classes at more than 110 cultural centers nationwide to help seniors lead healthy and vibrant lives. In 2011, it became the first large supermarket chain to extend the retirement age to 60.
