[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will hold the ‘30th Industrial Peace Award Ceremony’ at 10 a.m. on the 3rd in the International Conference Hall on the 12th floor of City Hall.
Since the first award ceremony was held in 1993, the Industrial Peace Award, now in its 30th year, is given to those who have contributed to industrial peace by improving labor conditions, enhancing corporate productivity, and preventing industrial accidents based on mutual trust between labor and management in the industrial field.
This year, a total of 10 recipients were selected: 8 in the Industrial Peace Award category (model workers and businesspeople) and 2 in the Industrial Peace Meritorious Service Award category (members of related organizations and groups).
The model worker awardees include ▲Hwang Jidam, Chairman of the Songwol Towel Labor Union ▲Kim Kyunggyu, Chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Busan Regional General Labor Union ▲Kim Jeongsan, Chairman of the Radiation Safety Management Labor Union at Kori Unit 3 Power Plant ▲Kim Honggyu, Chief Auditor of the Busan Branch of the Korean Workers’ Union of the U.S. Forces in Korea, who were recognized for their contributions to labor-management coexistence and the promotion of labor-management cooperation.
In the businessperson category, ▲Oh Eungjun, CEO of Sambu Rubber Industry ▲Yoo Jeonga, Vice President of International Printing ▲Do Jongbok, Vice President of Sungwoo Hitech ▲Lee Youngja, CEO of Geumgang Communications were selected as recipients, acknowledged for their efforts to improve worker welfare and productivity.
In the meritorious service category, ▲Heo Jaehun, Deputy Director of Busan Economic Promotion Agency ▲Ahn Seongmin, Sergeant of Busan Jungbu Police Station, who have worked to build sound labor-management relations, were honored with the award.
A plaque will be presented to the awardees, and especially model workers will receive incentives such as exemption from toll fees on Gwangandaegyo Bridge and public parking fees for three years.

Mayor Park Hyungjun said, “Although both labor and management have struggled over the past three years due to COVID-19, we confirmed Busan’s resilience in overcoming the crisis through compromise and cooperation,” adding, “The Industrial Peace Award not only contributes to the rights of workers and the improvement of corporate productivity but is also expected to serve as a stepping stone to creating a happy city Busan that empowers me.”
