Ranked 15th in the world, Kim Joo-hyung won his first career victory at the PGA Tour Wyndham Championship last August as a ‘special member,’ and collected another trophy two months later at the Shriners Children's Open. At 20 years and 3 months old, Kim reached two PGA Tour wins faster than the ‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA), who won his second PGA Tour title at 20 years and 9 months. This is the moment he is rapidly rising as a top star attracting worldwide attention.
Kim Joo-hyung made his first appearance in Japan last month at the PGA Tour Zozo Championship. He finished tied for 25th place. The Dunlop Phoenix Tournament was established in 1974 and is holding its 49th edition this year. Over the years, players such as Tom Watson, Tiger Woods, and Brooks Koepka (all from the USA) have participated as invited players and won the tournament. Korean players have never lifted the winner’s trophy. The defending champion is Kim Chan (USA).

Kim Joo-hyung returned to Korea last week and is resting domestically. On the 28th of last month, he made a surprise appearance at the SK Networks·Seoul Economy Ladies Classic 2nd round of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour held at Pinx Golf Club in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island.
