Explosion During Material Transport at Security Exhibition Hall
Military: "No Threat to Life... Cause Under Investigation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] An explosion of unknown cause occurred while transporting supplies at an army unit in Gangwon Province, injuring two soldiers.
According to military authorities on the 31st, the explosion happened around 11 a.m. during the transportation of supplies at a security exhibition hall within an army unit in Ha-an-myeon, Yanggu-gun, Gangwon Province.
Two soldiers involved in the operation were injured by shrapnel to their legs and heels and were urgently transported to the Armed Forces Capital Hospital in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province. Their lives are not in danger, and the soldiers are receiving inpatient treatment after undergoing surgery.
At the time of the explosion, the soldiers were reportedly moving display explosives from the Security Exhibition Hall of the 4th Tunnel to their respective unit when the accident occurred.
