[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Jeju Air announced on the 31st that the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal, which Jeju Air passengers can use, will resume operations starting next month on the 1st. This comes after a suspension of 2 years and 7 months due to COVID-19.
The check-in service at the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal is available to any passenger who has booked Jeju Air's Japan routes departing from Incheon. These routes include Incheon~Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, Fukuoka, and Sapporo. Starting from the 22nd of next month, passengers who have booked the Incheon~Nagoya route, and from December 1st, those on the Incheon~Okinawa route will be able to use the service.
After completing check-in at the City Airport Terminal and finishing departure procedures at the Ministry of Justice Immigration Office, passengers do not need to carry heavy luggage to the airport. It is convenient to travel to the airport via the airport railroad connected to the terminal. Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, passengers can quickly proceed through a dedicated passageway for City Airport Terminal users.
It is important to note the operating hours and ticketing check-in cut-off times of the City Airport Terminal. The check-in service operates from 5:20 AM to 7:00 PM. Departure procedures are available only from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Check-in must be completed at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure of the booked flight, and a direct train ticket to Incheon Airport must be purchased. Passengers on charter flights cannot use the service, and on-site application services such as checked baggage over 155cm, pet transportation, and unaccompanied minor services are restricted.
Jeju Air was the first Korean low-cost carrier (LCC) to start check-in services at the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal in 2010. Until the temporary suspension in March 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19, a total of approximately 276,000 passengers used the service. In 2019, an average of about 5,600 passengers per month who used international flights departing from Incheon utilized the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal check-in service.
