The agency announced on the 30th that it held the 'Experimental Animal Memorial Ceremony' at 4 p.m. that day in front of the Animal Memorial Monument at the Bio Center located in Gwanggyo Technovalley, Suwon City.
The memorial ceremony was attended by related personnel including experimental animal handlers at the agency's Bio Center, and proceeded with a moment of silence, reading of a memorial text, and floral tributes by the experimental animal handlers to console the spirits of the experimental animals and promote respect for life and ethical awareness.
Since 2007, the agency's Bio Center, operating an animal experiment laboratory with support from Gyeonggi Province, has been running an Animal Experiment Ethics Committee in accordance with the 'Animal Protection Act' and the 'Act on Laboratory Animals.' Animal experiments are conducted for research on diseases such as anti-obesity, atopic osteoarthritis, and dyslipidemia.
