Hyundai Motor's Xcient Hydrogen Electric Truck Surpasses 5 Million km in Total Driving Distance

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 28th that the XCIENT Fuel Cell hydrogen electric truck has surpassed a total cumulative distance of 5 million km in Switzerland.
This achievement was reached just two years after the XCIENT Fuel Cell began operating on Swiss roads in October 2020. It is the world's first and only case of a mass-produced large hydrogen electric truck exceeding 5 million km in cumulative driving distance.
The XCIENT Fuel Cell is the world's first mass-produced large hydrogen electric truck by Hyundai Motor Company, with a total of 47 units exported to 23 companies in Switzerland since 2020.
The XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks introduced in Switzerland have been using only 'green hydrogen' produced without carbon dioxide emissions as fuel since their first operation, contributing to the establishment of an eco-friendly hydrogen value chain in Europe.
Mark Freymueller, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor's Commercial Innovation Division, said, "This achievement proves both the reliability and eco-friendliness of the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck," adding, "Hyundai expects the Swiss case to serve as a model for many countries aiming for a hydrogen society transition, and plans to expand the supply of hydrogen electric trucks throughout Europe."

Meanwhile, Hyundai has also supplied the XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks to major global markets such as the United States and Germany, gaining recognition for their eco-friendliness and excellent technology. In August, Hyundai agreed to supply 27 XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks to seven companies in connection with the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport's (BMDV) eco-friendly commercial vehicle subsidy program.
