Busan Superintendent of Education Ha Yun-su Faces Prosecution for Alleged Violation of Public Official Election Act over 'Book Donation'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Education of Busan, is under investigation for violating the Public Official Election Act after it was revealed that he donated to a social service organization during his time as a preliminary candidate.
According to the Busanjin Police Station on the 25th, Ha is being investigated for visiting a social service organization around February and donating five copies of a book he authored.
According to Article 113 of the Public Official Election Act, candidates for public office are prohibited from making donations to voters or organizations.
Ha's camp denies the charges, stating, "He did not donate directly; a supporter purchased the books and delivered them."
A police official said, "Ha was recently investigated for violating the Public Official Election Act," adding, "He will be sent to the prosecution after the investigation, but we cannot disclose further details."
