Refuting Allegations of Presidential Election Fund Receipt Through a Statement
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Jeong Jin-sang, the Political Coordination Office Chief known as a close aide to Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, denied allegations of receiving illegal political funds, calling them "pure fiction not worth considering."
On the 24th, Jeong issued a statement regarding the prosecution's investigation into presidential election funds, saying, "I have already responded to summonses from the prosecution and police and have been investigated multiple times."
According to legal circles, the prosecution reportedly secured testimony that Yoo Dong-gyu, former Planning Director of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, handed Jeong 50 million won in 2014.
Jeong said, "On September 16, my phone and other items were seized during a search, and I was also subject to a travel ban," adding, "If the prosecution summons me for further investigation, I will confidently respond at any time and sincerely cooperate."
