View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 24th, President Yoon appointed Lee Gi-il, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as the 1st Vice Minister, and Park Min-su, the Secretary for Health and Welfare at the Presidential Secretariat, as the 2nd Vice Minister. With this, the appointments for the Minister and Vice Ministers of the Ministry of Health and Welfare were completed just over five months after the government was launched.
Born in 1965, the newly appointed 1st Vice Minister Lee graduated from Konkuk University with a degree in Public Administration, earned a master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Oregon, and obtained a doctorate in Health Sciences from Inje University.
Lee, who passed the 37th Administrative Examination, has held key positions such as head of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Performance Management Team, planning director of the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Policy Headquarters, head of the Personnel Division, Director of Childcare Policy, and spokesperson. Since September 2020, after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as Director of the Health and Medical Policy Office and was appointed as the 2nd Vice Minister in May of this year.
Born in 1968, the 2nd Vice Minister Park majored in Economics at Seoul National University and earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Lehigh University in the United States. He entered public service after passing the 36th Administrative Examination and has served as Director of the Insurance Policy Division, Policy Planning Officer, Welfare Policy Officer, and Director of the Planning and Coordination Office at the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
