Gurye Urban Regeneration, Eoullim Hanmadang Event Successfully Concluded

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 20th, about 30 people including village chiefs and operation committee chairs from Gurye-eup gathered at the Gurye Brewery Art Warehouse for a residents' council meeting to ensure the success of the "2022 2nd Gurye Urban Regeneration Harmony Festival," which combines chrysanthemums and Korean wheat bread.

The attendees resolved to actively participate and promote the event to revitalize the alleyway commercial district of the original downtown area of Gurye-eup.

The "2022 2nd Gurye Urban Regeneration Harmony Festival" is scheduled to be held from November 4 to November 6 at the Gurye Brewery area.

The main event and opening ceremony will take place on November 4. As the second time this event is held, it is expected to be a festival where nature and people enjoy nature together while revitalizing the original downtown alleyway commercial district.

Meanwhile, the event will be themed around a chrysanthemum artwork exhibition filled with flowers, a Korean wheat bread festival in the alleys, and an alley flea market.

The chrysanthemum artworks will feature 2,500 chrysanthemums cultivated by 162 participants from the flower-filled chrysanthemum class.

The bread festival highlights Korean wheat bread made by 12 bakers, reflecting Gurye’s characteristic as a major Korean wheat production area, attracting those seeking healthy bread. In particular, bread made from the new variety "Hwanggeumal" wheat, bred for baking by the National Institute of Crop Science under the Rural Development Administration, will be showcased.

At the flea market, 15 local residents linked with Nogodaljang will participate to sell agricultural and specialty products as well as "Bangsyo," a European-style Ssanghwa tea.

County Governor Kim Sunho said, “I hope many people will come to the Harmony Festival, which is the starting point to actively foster the Korean wheat complex industry, a pledge project of the 8th local government, along with the beautiful flower-filled Gurye image where nature breathes.”
