Yeosu Gwangyang Port Corporation Begins Maintenance Dredging at Nakpo Coal Wharf
Dredging Design Service for Ensuring Safe Vessel Passage and Securing Planned Water Depth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 20th that it has commenced the detailed design service for the "Gwangyang Port Nakpo Coal Pier Maintenance Dredging Project."
This project is being promoted to maintain dredging to secure the planned depth (15m) of the pier, which was not achieved according to the full-depth survey of Nakpo Coal Pier conducted in July, in order to ensure the stability of vessel berthing and unberthing.
YGPA plans to complete the detailed design within this year by investing a total project cost of 11.4 billion KRW and to complete the maintenance dredging work at Gwangyang Port Nakpo Coal Pier by 2023.
Choi Sang-heon, Vice President (Head of Development Business Division), stated, "Through this dredging work, we will ensure the safe navigation of vessels and do our best to prevent safety accidents during the construction."
