On the same day, it also received awards in the categories of 'Leading Digital Innovation,' 'Sustainable Network Project,' and 'Optical Line Construction Solution' at the 'Network X Global Awards.'
The WBA Awards is the most prestigious ceremony that selects companies with the most outstanding achievements and innovations in the global Wi-Fi sector.
The Best Wi-Fi Network Operator Award, which KT won for two consecutive years following 2021, is given to companies with excellent Wi-Fi technology and contributions to the development of the industry. KT explained that it was recognized for applying 5G to public transportation Wi-Fi using LTE to improve public Wi-Fi quality and leading the development of technology to enhance the competitiveness of Wi-Fi routers.
The Network X Global Awards is an event that combines the former '5G World Awards,' 'Broadband Awards,' and 'TELCO Cloud Awards.'
The Digital Innovation Leadership category, which KT won, is awarded to the telecommunications company that achieved the greatest innovation in 2022. KT was highly evaluated for transforming into a digital platform company by leveraging its expertise in telecommunications and utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud technologies.
The Sustainable Network Project category is awarded to companies that provide innovative and eco-friendly solutions to reduce carbon emissions. KT was recognized for significantly reducing carbon emissions by technically controlling the power consumption at 5G base stations through its '5G Energy Saving Technology.'
In the Optical Line Construction Solution category, KT received an award for its 'Emergency Recovery KIT,' which enables rapid rerouting to 5G wireless networks to maintain internet service until optical line faults are restored. Using the Emergency Recovery KIT minimizes damage to small business owners caused by faults and shortens line restoration time. KT plans to continue developing network safety technologies to prepare for disaster situations.
