Gibo and Korea Webtoon Industry Association Join Hands for K-Webtoon Growth
Comprehensive Business Agreement Signed to Discover and Support Innovation Growth of SMEs in the Webtoon Industry
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter Kibo) announced on the 20th that it has signed a comprehensive business agreement for a win-win partnership to support the innovative growth of K-Webtoon SMEs with the Korea Webtoon Industry Association (Chairman Seo Beom-gang, hereinafter the Association).
This agreement was prepared for the two organizations to mutually cooperate in discovering webtoon industry SMEs with excellent technological capabilities and growth potential, and to lead the overcoming of COVID-19 damages and innovative growth through financial support.
According to the agreement, the Association will discover and recommend SMEs with excellent webtoon planning and production capabilities and growth potential to Kibo, and Kibo will support the innovative growth of the webtoon industry through customized services such as ▲guarantee support including the Cultural Industry Completion Guarantee ▲technology evaluation such as venture and Inno-Biz certification ▲technology transfer ▲content intellectual property (IP) protection ▲investment for the SMEs recommended by the Association.
Kibo introduced the 'Cultural Industry Completion Guarantee System' in September 2009 to evaluate intangible technologies and projects and support content production guarantees to focus on fostering the cultural industry, including the webtoon industry. In addition, it actively responds to market demand by adding the publishing industry sector to the cultural industry scope at the end of last year and operates various guarantee products.

Kim Dae-cheol, head of Kibo's Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters, said, "Taking this agreement as an opportunity, the two organizations will actively promote customized support for webtoon industry SMEs and play a significant role in the development of K-Webtoon." He added, "Kibo operates various support systems to enhance the competitiveness of the webtoon industry and create a sustainable ecosystem, and will actively promote collaborative projects to overcome the crisis in the webtoon industry and create jobs."
