Hurim Robot's Autonomous Driving Robot 'Tetra-DSV' Wins Ministerial Award... "Applied in Various Fields Such as Fire Suppression and Logistics"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] The autonomous driving robot from robot specialist company Hurim Robot has been recognized for its technological excellence by winning the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award. The robot is applied in various fields such as unmanned fire suppression and logistics, and plans to expand its applications through continuous upgrades.
Hurim Robot announced on the 19th that its self-developed autonomous driving robot ‘Tetra-DSV’ won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the ‘2022 Mechanical Robot Aerospace Industry Development Merit Awards’ hosted by the Korea Robot Industry Association.
The Tetra-DSV, which won the Minister’s Award this time, is characterized by high compatibility as it is equipped with the universal robot operating system ‘ROS (Robot Operating System)’ on an autonomous driving robot with extensibility that allows users to develop and update packages directly for various purposes.
The Tetra-DSV can be equipped or combined with additional units such as robotic arms or conveyor belts, making it applicable for various purposes beyond logistics work, including unmanned transportation of raw materials and rapid process line rearrangement. The additional units can carry up to 120kg and can be powered with 5~24V without a separate converter. The Tetra-DSV equipped with an automatic fire extinguisher is being used as an unmanned fire suppression robot.
Hurim Robot’s Tetra-DSV applies advanced artificial intelligence (AI) object detection technology, enabling precise autonomous driving in complex indoor environments through built-in LiDAR sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and 3D cameras for obstacle avoidance, slope navigation, and user following. If the robot deviates from its path due to external impact, it immediately recognizes and corrects its position, allowing continuous task execution.
Additionally, the robot can be operated by linking with smartphone and tablet PC applications, enhancing user convenience, and supports various optimizations (customizations) according to user requirements.
Hurim Robot will exhibit the Tetra-DSV robot and various application cases at the ‘2022 Korea Industry Fair,’ hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and jointly organized by the Korea Machinery Industry Promotion Association and the Korea Software Industry Association, held for four days from today until the 21st.
A Hurim Robot official said, “We are pleased to have our long-standing know-how and solid technological capabilities in robotics recognized through this Minister’s Award. As the demand for non-face-to-face services increases recently and the service robot market grows rapidly, competition for autonomous driving robots is intensifying both domestically and internationally. Hurim Robot has secured technology with about 90% localization rate, enabling domestic production of the Tetra-DSV.”
