Marking its 15th year, this year's Chrysanthemum Exhibition has reduced the number of model works and instead expanded the chrysanthemum hill threefold. With a 300m large chrysanthemum flower maze, a 2km flower path, about 100 bonsai works, and approximately 250,000 chrysanthemums, it plans to offer visitors new attractions.
Additionally, to create a differentiated chrysanthemum hill with excellent chrysanthemum varieties, a business agreement was signed last December with the Flower Research Institute of the Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services. Earlier this year, they received Gyeongsangnam-do cultivated varieties, propagated them in-house, and planted them in the event house and chrysanthemum hill.
The Geochang Incident Chrysanthemum Exhibition is the fruit of a year’s hard work and sweat from public officials and workers from Sinwon-myeon who love chrysanthemums, cultivated diligently from last winter through autumn, unlike chrysanthemum-related events in other local governments.

County Governor Gu In-mo said, “Along with the 71st Joint Memorial Service and Commemoration Ceremony for the Victims of the Geochang Incident on October 27th, I hope that the chrysanthemum exhibition starting on the 29th will help people remember the painful history of the past and realize how precious the peace we enjoy now is.” He added, “I expect that visitors will find small comfort and new hope in the memorial park filled with the late autumn atmosphere and the scent of chrysanthemums.”
