[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SPC Group has opened the first bakery brand Paris Baguette store in London, UK. Paris Baguette plans to use the UK as a forward base for the European market and actively expand its entry into Europe.
SPC Group announced on the 16th that Paris Baguette opened a store in London, UK on the 14th (local time), marking its entry into the UK market.
The UK is Paris Baguette's ninth overseas expansion country and its second European entry after France, representing a key global market in the English-speaking world alongside the United States. The UK bakery market is worth 30 trillion KRW annually and is considered one of the top three bakery markets in Europe along with Germany and France, with a well-developed franchise market. Paris Baguette plans to actively test its franchise business model in the UK market and expand into other European countries.
Huh Jin-soo, President of SPC Group's Global Business Division, said, "The UK is an important market that will serve as a key base for Paris Baguette's expansion and franchise business development in the European market," adding, "We plan to open 20 stores by 2025 and aggressively target the UK as one of our four major global growth axes alongside the US, China, and Singapore."
Paris Baguette's first UK store is located on the first floor of the newly opened mixed-use commercial facility 'Battersea Power Station' on the south bank of the Thames River in London, covering 276.9㎡ with 60 seats. This location is a local hotspot where the London city government transformed a historic power plant into a shopping and entertainment space. Alongside Paris Baguette, world-renowned brands such as Apple UK headquarters, Gordon Ramsay Restaurant, and Starbucks have also opened stores here.
The Paris Baguette Battersea Power Station store applies Paris Baguette's unique bakery caf? concept, featuring comfortable and spacious dining areas with round tables and sofas. The interior design uses materials such as tiles and iron to match the Art Deco style of the power plant building, and the exposed ceiling preserves the historical characteristics of the building.
In addition, Paris Baguette offers differentiated products reflecting its unique identity, including fresh cream cakes and chiffon cakes, as well as signature menu items tailored to the local market such as eclairs and tarts, along with sandwiches and salad products.
Paris Baguette plans to open its second store next month in Kensington High Street, a famous shopping district in central London.
