Man in his 60s Arrested for Stabbing Former Lover in Her 80s in Semi-basement Apartment
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of killing his former partner in her 80s with a weapon.
On the 14th, the Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, on the 10th on suspicion of murder and are currently investigating. The Seoul Northern District Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A the previous day, and he is being investigated while in custody.
Mr. A is suspected of killing Ms. B, a woman in her 80s who was his former partner, with a weapon at a semi-basement house in Jangan-dong, Dongdaemun-gu on the 8th.
The next day, when no movement was detected from Ms. B by the motion sensors distributed to elderly people living alone by the Dongdaemun District Office, an official visited her residence. When the official sensed no signs of life, they reported it to the police, and the responding police and fire personnel confirmed Ms. B’s body.
The police began an investigation and arrested Mr. A at his home on the 10th. It is reported that he admitted to all charges during the police investigation.

A police official stated, “We plan to conduct a psychiatric evaluation of Mr. A by involving profilers and others,” and added, “Digital forensic analysis of Mr. A’s mobile phone is also underway.”
