Lee Jae-myung: "People's Livelihoods Are Harsh, but the Ruling Party Focuses on 'Internal Unity' Security Populism"
Lee Jae-myung "The ruling party is truly regrettable for focusing on 'internal cohesion' security populism over people's livelihood"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 14th, "It is truly regrettable that the government and ruling party seem to be focusing on security populism for internal consolidation rather than on people's livelihoods."
At the Supreme Council meeting that day, Lee said, "The livelihood economy is facing severe trials," and added, "I ask the government and ruling party to focus more on people's livelihoods."
He criticized, "It is difficult to find policies or actual actions appropriate for an emergency situation," and said, "(The Yoon Seok-yeol administration) is implementing completely backward policies, drastically cutting the budget for support to ordinary citizens while proposing tax cuts for the super-rich and large corporations."
Lee also stated, "Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures," and promised, "We will broadly establish a safety net for the livelihood economy. We will promptly resolve urgent legislative tasks such as the three laws on household debt measures and the linkage system for delivery prices."
