Twenty-nine students from the university’s Semiconductor Department, Electronics Department, Electrical Department, and Mechanical Division of the Advanced Future Studies Department attended the 24th Semiconductor Exhibition (SEDEX 2022) held at COEX in Seoul and toured the industry sites.
The 'Semiconductor Exhibition' is a specialized semiconductor trade show featuring all sectors of the semiconductor industry, with 250 semiconductor-related companies participating, including memory semiconductors, system semiconductors, equipment and components, materials, and facilities, making it a large-scale comprehensive exhibition.
The main program, visiting the Semiconductor Exhibition, was guided on-site by Executive Director Ahn Ki-hyun of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, who personally led the students.
The students gained the latest information on the global semiconductor market and technology, visited booths of major companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, and spent time strengthening their employment aspirations.
During the program’s industrial site visits, they visited FST Co., Ltd. in Dongtan and Semiz Co., Ltd. located in Yongin to gain practical experience.
The students experienced equipment and tasks used in semiconductor industry fieldwork, such as Pelicle, Chiller, and Dry Etcher, a dry etching device.
Lee In-ho, a first-year student in the Semiconductor Department who participated in the tour, said, “I was able to better understand practical knowledge related to semiconductors, which greatly helped me plan my career path.”
Im Jun-woo, head of the New Industry Specialized Project Group at Gyeongnam Information University, said, “This opportunity allowed our students to develop greater interest in the semiconductor field through visiting the Semiconductor Exhibition and various industrial sites.”
