Mokpo City Secures 1.9 Billion KRW in Special Local Grant for Regional Issues
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it has secured 1.9 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The special grants include ▲1 billion KRW for Baekryeon Neighborhood Park function and landscape improvement project ▲600 million KRW for construction of a parking tower at Yongdang 1-dong public parking lot ▲300 million KRW for reinforcement work on rockfall-prone cut slopes at Mokpo Sanjeong Life Sports Park.
The Baekryeon Neighborhood Park function and landscape improvement project aims to enhance the function of the urban park and increase its usage by installing park convenience facilities such as ecological fountains, outdoor amenities, and shade shelters.
The Yongdang 1-dong public parking lot parking tower construction project is intended to secure a large-scale parking space near Dongbu Market, where public parking is insufficient and commercial buildings and multi-family houses are densely located, to alleviate residents' inconvenience and provide parking convenience.
The Sanjeong Life Sports Park rockfall-prone cut slope repair and reinforcement project is a project to repair and reinforce rock cut slopes that are at risk of rockfall to ensure the safety of park users.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul of Mokpo met with Assemblywoman Jo Su-jin, who was a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party in July, for prior consultation to secure the special grants, and has been making steady efforts to secure national funds, including proposing the special grants to Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min on August 26.

Mayor Park Hong-ryul said, “With the securing of the special grants, we can proceed with pending projects without setbacks,” and added, “We will do our best to secure additional national budget for Mokpo’s development and citizen convenience projects by engaging local lawmakers and politicians from both ruling and opposition parties.”
