Imsil-gun's 'ImsilN Cheese Festival' Concludes Successfully... 520,000 Visitors Attended

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 11th that the Imsil N Cheese Festival, held for four days from the 7th to the 10th at Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Imsil Cheese Village, and the Imsil-eup area, concluded successfully.

The county tentatively estimated that about 520,000 tourists visited the Cheese Theme Park and Cheese Village from the 1st of the month through the festival period, marking the first Imsil N Cheese Festival in three years.

In addition to the anticipation for an in-person festival that was not possible due to COVID-19, the festival attracted crowds far exceeding expectations because it is the only nationwide festival themed around cheese and is renowned as a Korean cultural tourism festival.

In particular, the chrysanthemum flower landscape of over ten million blooms displayed around the Cheese Theme Park, the highlight of the Imsil N Cheese Festival, was once again greatly loved by visitors this year.

About 30,000 chrysanthemum flower pots, carefully cultivated by the county’s Agricultural Technology Center since this spring, were beautifully exhibited around the Imsil Cheese Theme Park, and the main photo zone featured a sculpture of the late Father Ji Jeonghwan, the father of Imsil cheese, and a goat, drawing admiration from tourists.

Also, the Korean aster and cosmos flowers that filled the Wind Hill and Cheese Village areas were very popular among visitors.

Visitors took photos everywhere at the festival grounds, which felt like photo zones, and shared them on SNS, contributing to external promotion of the festival.

Thanks to word of mouth from tourists who visited the festival, even in bad weather, a large number of visitors flocked until the last day of the festival, creating a spectacular scene resembling parking lots along roads in the area.

This year’s festival, under the slogan “Enjoy the Cheese Festival! Walk the Chrysanthemum Flower Road!”, featured 76 programs across 10 themes held abundantly at Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Imsil Cheese Village, and the Imsil-eup area.

This year, the festival featured a more diverse range of cheese-related programs than previous years, adding significance as the nation’s only cheese-themed festival. Cheese-related games, food, and entertainment were abundant throughout the festival grounds.

Many tourists stayed at the festival site at night to enjoy the night scenery, adding to the festival’s excitement until late hours.

Shim Min, the county governor, said, “Despite being the first festival in three years, many tourists visited, and the festival grounds were crowded without a moment to spare throughout the festival period. We will work harder next year to improve on this year’s shortcomings so that even more tourists can visit the festival.”
