[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG Innotek announced on the 6th that it has obtained the international standard certification 'ISO22301' for establishing a 'Business Continuity Management System (BCMS)'.
BCMS is a management system that prepares a framework to quickly restore systems and enable normal operations when an incident disrupts a core function of a company. ISO22301 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for establishing a BCMS.
Recently, global companies have increasingly required their partners to have response measures and recovery plans to minimize losses caused by supply chain disruptions during disasters. This is due to management crises experienced from natural disasters such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and Typhoon Hinamnor, as well as new infectious diseases like COVID-19.
So far, LG Innotek has focused on building systematic crisis management capabilities. Last year, it appointed Executive Director Kim Changtae as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and established a dedicated organization. Since May, it has formed a task force involving 31 teams from the Substrate Materials Division, including safety and environment departments, to actively assess company-wide crisis management capabilities.
In addition, specialized personnel with auditor certifications have conducted customized training sessions more than five times since May this year, targeting over 30 related teams. In July, the company also conducted a simulated drill assuming an accident at a domestic business site to check crisis response capabilities.
LG Innotek plans to promote standardized crisis management measures linked with its overseas business sites in the future.
