Russia Expels Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Director... "Major Information Leaked to Ukraine"
IAEA's Request for Explanation Met with "Temporarily Detained" Response
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Sputnik News reported on the 4th (local time) that Russia expelled the director of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine on charges of providing key information to Ukraine.
According to the news agency, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration Committee classified as pro-Russian, claimed on Telegram that "Ihor Murashov, the director of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, provided the Security Service of Ukraine with information necessary for the attack on Enerhodar, where the power plant is located." It was also reported that Murashov admitted to providing information about the nuclear power plant's situation to Ukraine and knew where the Ukrainian military's shelling was coming from.
In response, Murashov was caught by a Russian patrol while heading from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to Enerhodar on the 30th of last month on charges of obstructing Russian authorities' activities and was expelled to Ukrainian territory. The patrol reportedly blindfolded Murashov before detaining him.
Russia stated that it temporarily detained Murashov to question him after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) demanded an explanation regarding the matter.
Petro Kotin, CEO of Energoatom, the operator of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, claimed that "Russia will force Murashov to hand over the operation rights of the nuclear power plant."
