Real-Time Traffic Signal Information Provided for '788 Urban Locations' on the 'Seoul Transportation Big Data Portal'
Seoul City to Expand Real-Time Traffic Signal Information to All Intersections with Four or More Lanes by 2024
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 4th that starting from the 5th, it will provide Seoul C-ITS data, such as the current signal color at major urban intersections and the remaining signal time, to citizens for free through the ‘Public Data’ and ‘Seoul Transportation Big Data’ portals.
Seoul City has been providing V2X-based Seoul C-ITS traffic data and infrastructure information, including real-time traffic signals and remaining time data at 642 major intersections, to private navigation services (Tmap, Kakao Mobility) via a dedicated network since March. From the 5th, anyone can receive and utilize Seoul C-ITS traffic data through a domestically first-developed open API available on the ‘Public Data’ and ‘Seoul Transportation Big Data’ portals.
The previously provided traffic signal and remaining time information for 642 major intersections will be expanded by adding 146 more intersections, totaling 788 locations. By 2024, this will be further expanded to cover 3,660 intersections on all roads with four or more lanes. In addition to traffic signal information, ‘road hazard information’ such as intersection hazard data and pedestrian information collected from 1,700 vehicles (1,600 city buses and 100 taxis), ‘vehicle information’ such as vehicle location and sudden acceleration, and map data and other infrastructure information will also be provided.
