If You Post Illegal Advertisements, Expect a 'Bomb Call'
[Seoul District News] Yangcheon-gu Expands Lines to 130 by Changing Existing Outbound-Only Number (02) to Mobile Phone Number
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will expand the lines of the "Illegal Advertisement Automatic Warning Call System," also known as the "Bomb Call," which repeatedly calls the numbers listed on illegal advertisements such as illegal banners and youth-harmful flyers to keep the line busy and nullify the advertising effect, to 130 lines.
This system informs the recipient via a voice message about fines for violations of the Outdoor Advertisement Act and encourages the cessation of illegal activities when the call is answered.
In particular, the district plans to change the existing outgoing-only number, which was a general phone number (02), to a mobile phone number so that illegal advertisers cannot identify it, aiming to implement a more certain and effective eradication measure.
In case illegal advertisers block the caller ID, the system will change the phone number each time and use 130 outgoing-only numbers to automatically make calls at intervals of 20 minutes for the first crackdown, 10 minutes for the second, and 5 minutes for the third.
Since the system was introduced last year, the district has sent over 2.3 million automatic warnings to about 400 illegal advertisement phone numbers, effectively nullifying the advertising effect.
