Incheon City Council Education Committee Enacts Ordinance to Support Students in Psychological Crisis
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Education Committee of the Incheon Metropolitan Council has established an institutional foundation through the enactment of ordinances for supporting students in psychological crisis and protecting wild birds.
According to the city council on the 27th, the 'Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education Psychological Crisis Student Support Ordinance,' which was proposed by Education Committee member Lee Osang as the main sponsor, recently passed the Education Committee review and the plenary session.
This ordinance was promoted to timely identify and support students in psychological crisis so that they can fully adapt to family, school, and social life.
Representative Lee said, "The number of students experiencing depression and anxiety is increasing due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "I hope that by preparing professional management measures for students in psychological crisis and providing support, it will offer practical help."
Also, the 'Incheon Wild Bird Collision Reduction and Prevention Ordinance,' proposed by Education Committee Chairman Shin Choongsik as the main sponsor, passed the plenary session after review by the Industry and Economy Committee.
The ordinance stipulates measures for owners, occupiers, and project implementers of artificial structures to reduce and prevent collisions of wild birds with glass windows or transparent soundproof walls of buildings, which cause injury or death to the birds.

Chairman Shin stated, "Eight million wild birds die annually by colliding with transparent glass and other surfaces," and added, "The enactment of this ordinance will prevent wild bird collisions and contribute to creating an eco-friendly city that coexists with the natural environment."
