A Man in His 30s Arrested for Stealing 10 Million Won Worth of Jewelry in Magok-dong, Seoul
Police to Apply for Arrest Warrant Soon
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 30s who stole precious metals from a jewelry store in Seoul was arrested by the police.
The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 27th that they have apprehended and are investigating Mr. A (31) on charges of special robbery.
Mr. A is accused of threatening the owner, Mr. B (57), with a weapon at a jewelry store in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, at 6:07 PM the previous day, and fleeing with precious metals worth about 10 million won, including necklaces and bracelets.
After receiving a report from Mr. B, the police identified Mr. A based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and tracked his real-time location via his mobile phone. They urgently arrested him near Jeungsan Station at around 8:30 PM on the same day.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A committed the crime after suffering significant losses from recent stock investments and being unable to pay the interest on his loans.

A police official stated, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant as soon as the investigation is completed."
