Seongnam-si Sanseong-daero Revitalizes 4 Commercial Districts... Resident Public Hearing on the 4th of Next Month
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will invest 52.1 billion KRW by 2026 to promote a specialized regeneration project integrating the commercial districts of Seongho Market, Seongnam Central Underground Shopping Center, Sinheung Rodeo Street, and Sinheung General Shopping Center in the old downtown area.
Seongnam City announced on the 27th that it will hold a public hearing related to this on the 4th of next month at the underground auditorium of Sujeong Community Center (Sujin-dong, Sujeong-gu).
The public hearing will be an opportunity to explain the urban regeneration project plan aimed at revitalizing the commercial districts covering 170,219㎡ in the Sinheung-dong, Seongnam-dong, and Jungang-dong areas, and to gather opinions from citizens and related experts.
The city plans to secure 18 billion KRW within this year and will implement 10 strategic projects over four years starting next year in four areas: commercial district vitality regeneration, growth enterprise activation, regional specialized cultural regeneration, and smart urban regeneration.
The strategic projects include creating rest and walking spaces for citizens, improving the environment of the Central Underground Shopping Center, Sinheung Rodeo Street, and Sinheung General Shopping Center, and conducting integrated festivals such as cultural events.
The city will build a new convergence support center to attract growth enterprises and operate win-win projects where local merchants and companies collaborate.
Additionally, a six-story landmark space will be newly constructed and operated to support marketing, product and service development for local merchants, and an on-site support center will be run to promote resident participation through project contests.
Moreover, the city will establish a smart cultural street equipped with smart streetlights, smart crosswalks, and smart benches, as well as a smart parking system that allows drivers to search and pay for vacant parking spaces via smartphones, and a commercial district guidance system.
