Local Talent Development... Ulsan Office of Education Holds Vocational Education Innovation District Launch Ceremony
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held the 2022 Vocational Education Innovation District Launch Ceremony at 4 p.m. on the 26th at the JW Convention Grand Ballroom Hall.
The launch ceremony was attended by about 150 people, including representatives from Ulsan City, Ulsan City Council, related organizations, local universities, representatives of about 28 local companies, and participating students.
The Vocational Education Innovation District project is a Ministry of Education public contest project, with five districts selected: Ulsan, Gwangju, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam-Changwon, and Gyeongnam-Gimhae. Ulsan will receive an annual budget of 1 billion KRW for three years.
The city and the Office of Education will cooperate to nurture talent related to future eco-friendly vehicles in the 'Green Mobility' field, a regional strategic specialized industry.
Starting with the launch ceremony, the Office of Education plans to discover various cooperative projects for companies and students to promote high school graduate employment, support 'Green Mobility Technical Education' and 'Employment First, Learning Later,' and establish a virtuous cycle system where local talent can settle after employment in local companies.
Additionally, students who get employed by local companies through the project and participate in further learning will receive a regional settlement support fund of 400,000 KRW per month for six months, totaling 2.4 million KRW.
To this end, on the 23rd, the city and the Office of Education signed a mutual agreement to activate the Innovation District project, nurture talent for Ulsan's future strategic industries, and support regional settlement, pledging joint efforts.
At the launch ceremony, appointment letters were awarded to local cooperation committee members who will serve as advisory roles for the Innovation District project review, and a working council under the local cooperation committee was formed to establish a cooperative system ensuring continuous communication centered on practitioners for new changes in vocational education.
Hong Seong-woo, chairman of the City Council Education Committee, said, "I believe that nurturing technical talent suited to Ulsan's industrial characteristics through local cooperation and supporting employment and settlement in local companies is an important way to resolve youth outflow from Ulsan," adding, "The City Council will actively support the activation of the Vocational Education Innovation District project."
