Secured 700 Million KRW for 5 Projects Including Cultural Heritage Night Tour and Vivid Cultural Heritage

Yeosu City Selected for 5 Projects in the Cultural Heritage Administration's '2023 Cultural Heritage Utilization Project' Competition

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 23rd that five projects were selected in the Cultural Heritage Administration’s “2023 Cultural Heritage Utilization Projects” contest.

The selected projects are ▲Cultural Heritage Night Tour ▲Vivid Cultural Heritage ▲Hyanggyo and Seowon Cultural Heritage Utilization Project ▲Traditional Mountain Temple Cultural Heritage Utilization Project ▲Local Cultural Heritage Education, securing a total project budget of 700 million KRW.

The “Local Cultural Heritage Utilization Project” is a project aimed at developing the value and meaning contained in cultural heritage to increase opportunities for local residents to enjoy culture and revitalize the local economy.

First, the Cultural Heritage Night Tour is a nighttime cultural enjoyment program that utilizes distinctive local historical and cultural resources to conduct viewing, experiences, performances, and exhibitions. Yeosu City has been selected and promoted annually since 2018.

The Vivid Cultural Heritage program is “Sea of Victory, Sea of the People,” which explores cultural heritage related to Admiral Yi Sun-sin. The Hyanggyo and Seowon Cultural Heritage Utilization Project is themed “Restart! Yeosu Hyanggyo,” the Traditional Mountain Temple Cultural Heritage Utilization Project is “Patriotic Temple Heungguksa, Yeosu Heung-hada,” and the Local Cultural Heritage Education program is “Cultural Heritage Career Exploration Team.”

A city official said, “This is the second great achievement this year following the selection for the Cultural Heritage Administration’s ‘Geomundo Modern Historical and Cultural Space Revitalization Project’ in August. We will create a cultural experience venue that draws citizens’ interest and participation through various cultural heritage utilization projects.”
