View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that Park Yoon-kyu, the 2nd Vice Minister, held a win-win meeting on the 23rd at Vertex Hall, Vertex Korea, located in S Tower, Jongno-gu, Seoul, to revitalize the domestic mobile app ecosystem. This meeting was held about 11 months after the win-win agreement was signed on October 13 last year to revitalize the domestic mobile app ecosystem. It was to check the progress of implementation following the previous agreement and to listen to market conditions and industry difficulties.
The event was held with the participation of domestic app markets One Store and Galaxy Store, 10 mobile content companies in the fields of games, online video services (OTT), and music, the head of the Korea Internet & Security Agency, and the vice chairman of the Korea Metaverse Industry Association. Domestic app market companies introduced commission reduction programs for mobile content companies, app pre-installation support, and future overseas expansion plans. They also discussed content listing support measures for mutual growth with mobile content companies.
Domestic mobile content companies presented opinions on difficulties in the field for creating a healthy app ecosystem and cooperation tasks with the government. The attendees agreed on the purpose of the win-win agreement, such as creating a fair competitive environment in the domestic mobile app market, and agreed to create an environment where app markets, mobile content companies, and users can coexist through continuous practical-level discussions.
