Wando-gun Discovers New Policies to Drive Regional Development

A Total of 274 Submissions Received, 17 Final Selections Made After Review Meeting

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 19th, it held the ‘2023 New Policy Report Meeting’ at the county office situation room, presided over by Deputy County Governor Kang Seong-woon, with senior officials and policy proposers in attendance.

Following the launch of the 8th civilian administration, the county collected ideas from all public officials over the past month to discover new policies that would support county governance and reflect regional characteristics. Out of a total of 274 proposals, 30 were selected after review.

Through the report meeting, 17 final policies were identified after examining the feasibility of the 30 proposals.

The main selected policies include ▲Issuance of birth registration certificates for our babies ▲Development of marine healing kits utilizing Wando’s specialized resources ▲Wando-gun KakaoTalk emoticon contest ▲Holding of spacing-out contests and seaweed noodle-cutting contests ▲Establishment of wireless internet networks on passenger ships, among others.

The policies were chosen to align with the governance direction of the 8th civilian administration, enhancing executability and actively responding to the rapidly changing era with diverse ideas. The selected policies will be reviewed by each department, reflected in next year’s main budget, and implemented with detailed plans.

Deputy County Governor Kang Seong-woon stated, “Small ideas from public officials can serve as a foundation for Wando’s development and improving the quality of life for residents,” and added, “I hope the selected new policy projects will be actively reviewed and promoted with improvements made where necessary.”
