Seoul City to Hold 'Youth Week' Event at Gwanghwamun Square and Seoul City Hall from 17th to 23rd
Government, Local Governments, Public Institutions, and Companies 'Youth Policy Expo', 'Employment Mentoring' by Current Employees of Global Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 16th that it will hold the ‘2022 Youth Week’ event, where youth take center stage, for a week from the 17th to the 23rd in celebration of ‘Youth Day.’
This year’s event slogan is ‘Accompanying the [Happiness·Dream·Hope+@] of Youth.’ It reflects the key word ‘accompanying’ from the 8th municipal administration and the core concept of ‘happiness’ from Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s ‘Youth Happiness Project’ announced in March this year. The ‘+@’ is left open to allow youth to add their own keywords such as future and tomorrow that they want to accompany with Seoul City, making it an interactive slogan.
On the 17th and 18th at Gwanghwamun Square, a youth policy expo will be held with large participation from the government, local governments, public institutions, and private companies. On the 19th at Seoul City Hall, the ‘Global Employment Mentoring Day’ will take place, where 40 current employees from global companies such as Tesla, Nike, and Amazon will share valuable tips.
Additionally, there will be a talk concert where youth who have participated in Seoul’s youth policies such as Seoul Young Tech, Hope Double Youth Account, and Youth Employment Academy share their experiences; a film festival screening movies planned and directed by youth; and a conference themed on the lives of Seoul youth based on data.
Mayor Oh will receive the ‘Grand Prize’ at the ‘5th Youth-Friendly Legislative Award Ceremony’ held on the 17th at Olympic Park as part of the Youth Day events. Seoul City was selected as an excellent youth-friendly metropolitan local government in recognition of its achievements such as establishing the comprehensive youth plan ‘Youth Happiness Project,’ implementing the largest youth policy among local governments, and operating a youth autonomous budget.
