Launch of the Government-Wide Joint Task Force for the President's Second Office
Establishing a Collaborative Framework Among Related Agencies and Discussing Future Operational Plans
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Administrative City Construction Agency announced that it formed the “Presidential Second Office Intergovernmental Joint Task Force,” composed of related ministries, to promote the construction of the President’s Second Office. The task force held its inauguration ceremony and first meeting on the 14th.
The “Presidential Second Office Intergovernmental Joint Task Force” is centered around the Deputy Administrator of the Administrative City Construction Agency, who serves as the joint task force leader, and includes directors and staff from related ministries such as the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. It is an intergovernmental promotion system established to promptly review and coordinate issues related to the construction of the Second Office.
The “Establishment of the President’s Second Office” was a campaign pledge of President Yoon Seok-yeol during the 20th presidential election and is a core project included in the current government’s national agenda. In May, legal grounds were established through the amendment of the Happy City Act to allow the installation of the President’s Second Office within the Administrative City. Accordingly, the government announced a joint plan for the construction of the President’s Second Office at the end of August, involving the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Happy City Agency.
During the meeting, the plan for promoting the construction of the President’s Second Office was shared, and discussions were held on the future formation of an expert advisory group, methods for gathering public opinion, inter-agency cooperation plans, and detailed implementation schedules. The Happy City Agency plans to commission a “Second Office Construction Planning Service” within this month to review the functions, scale, and location of the Second Office.
