Hamyang-gun to Resume 'Hamyang Sansam Festival' Suspended Due to Typhoon on the 8th
No Major Damage, Full Preparation for Guests Including Stage and Facility Installation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, plans to resume the temporarily suspended "17th Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival" due to the typhoon from the 8th and offer visitors health and healing until the 11th.
According to the county, the 17th Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival was scheduled to be held for 10 days from the 2nd to the 11th under the theme "Hi-Ginseng! Supporting Your Youth."
However, due to the approach of Typhoon No. 11, the county decided to temporarily suspend the festival for three days from the 5th to the 7th to ensure the safety of residents and visitors, and took thorough typhoon precautions such as urgently dismantling stages and tents.
Hamyang area fell under the influence of the typhoon, with heavy rain of 300mm pouring over the Jirisan area, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain. However, thanks to the prior urgent removal of facilities and thorough typhoon preparations, no anticipated damage occurred.
Accordingly, the county began preparations to welcome guests by reinstalling the festival facilities and stages that had been dismantled since the 6th to resume the temporarily suspended Wild Ginseng Festival.
A county official said, "While holding the festival is important, the safety of residents and tourists was the priority, so the festival was inevitably temporarily suspended. Thanks to thorough prior preparations, there was no major damage," adding, "As the festival fully resumes, we hope visitors come to the Wild Ginseng Festival site and create beautiful memories."

On the 8th, when the festival resumes, there will be a Wild Ginseng academic event and a Biwa Festival; on the 9th, Wild Ginseng Garaetteok (rice cake) pulling and performances by local artists from Hamyang; on the 10th, Wild Ginseng Day with distribution of mountain wild ginseng and a residents' song contest will be held. On the final day of the festival, the 11th, a closing ceremony and the Sanmak Festival will take place, providing an opportunity for residents and tourists to come together as one.
