Typhoon Damage Grief, University Consoles... Daegu University to Provide Special Scholarships up to 1 Million KRW for Students Affected by Typhoon
Typhoon Chaba, Pohang Earthquake, and Gangwon Province Wildfires Prompted 'Special Scholarships' Grants
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Daegu University will provide special scholarships to its enrolled students who suffered damage from Typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’.
To alleviate the financial burden of tuition fees on students and parents experiencing economic difficulties due to this typhoon damage and to motivate academic pursuits, the university decided to award the president’s special scholarship up to 1,000,000 KRW depending on the extent of the damage (Grade A 1,000,000 KRW, Grade B 500,000 KRW).
Eligible applicants are enrolled students for the second semester of the 2022 academic year who have suffered damage from heavy rain, storm surge, strong winds, etc. caused by this typhoon, and applications can be made with a ‘Disaster Confirmation Certificate’ issued by government offices.
This special scholarship will be paid in a fixed amount according to the extent of the damage, even if it exceeds the tuition fee range, unlike general scholarships which are paid within the tuition fee range.
Park Soon-jin, president of Daegu University, said, “Ahead of Chuseok, I hope that the students, parents, and families affected by the typhoon damage, who are in great sorrow and loss, will regain stability as soon as possible and that an environment where students can focus on their studies will be established.”
