President Yoon: "I, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of the Interior should visit areas with severe damage"
Yoon "Typhoon is passing, but we cannot let our guard down"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 6th regarding the 11th typhoon 'Hinnamnor', "After reviewing the situation today, I think the Prime Minister, the Minister of the Interior and Safety, and I should visit the sites where the damage is severe."
President Yoon made this statement during a meeting with reporters in the press room on the morning of the day, after staying overnight at the Yongsan Presidential Office building to respond to the typhoon emergency since the previous day.
President Yoon said, "The center of the typhoon is currently heading toward Ulleungdo and Dokdo, but we cannot let our guard down in accident management and safety measures yet," adding, "We must continue real-time communication with local government officials, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Fire Agency."
He also mentioned evacuation of people and movement control in dangerous areas, saying, "The National Fire Agency and the police were all mobilized, and evacuations were carried out in a timely manner. Thanks to the residents' cooperation, we were able to avoid the most critical situations." He added, "We need to inspect the safety of facilities and structures, as well as landslides and ground conditions, since heavy rain has fallen again this time."
Regarding the media, he expressed gratitude, saying, "They have continuously provided real-time disaster broadcasts, which is the most important thing for the people," and "I am very thankful that the media did a great job this time."

About his overnight stay, unlike during the recent heavy rain, President Yoon said, "Last month's heavy rain was truly unpredictable," and "Until we left work, there was almost no rain in northern Seoul that night, while a few areas in southern Seoul experienced concentrated rainfall." He added, "This is a record-breaking typhoon known for its power, called a monster typhoon. Since it grows by absorbing smaller typhoons, if we prepare well in advance, we can reduce the damage."
