Ministry of the Interior and Safety to Collect Name Suggestions for 'Local Subsidy Management System' Until the 20th
Received through 'On (ON) Gukmin Sotong'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 5th that it will hold a naming contest for the new system for managing local subsidies, the ‘Local Subsidy Management System,’ until the 20th.
This contest was organized to raise social awareness of local subsidies and to promote the ‘Local Subsidy Management System’ as the representative gateway for managing local subsidies.
The ‘Local Subsidy Management System’ is a system selected as a national agenda project to digitalize the entire process of granting, executing, and settling local subsidies, which have been increasing annually (54 trillion KRW in 2022), to prevent duplicate and fraudulent receipt of local subsidies and to enhance transparency through information disclosure.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety completed the first phase of the ‘Local Subsidy Management System’ project on August 1 and is currently providing local governments with partial services for local subsidy budget formulation. The second phase, including local subsidy execution and public information disclosure services, is scheduled to open in January 2023, and full operation, including management of fraudulent receipt of local subsidies, will begin in January 2024.
The naming contest for the Local Subsidy Management System is open to the public and local governments nationwide, which are the main managers of local subsidies. About ten names will be selected as candidates through the first round of screening, and the final selection will be made by the public. Anyone nationwide can participate by downloading the application form posted on ‘On(ON) National Communication’ and submitting it via email.
