Representative Choi Hojung Urges Full Effort to Prevent Damage from Typhoon 'Hinnamnor' Approaching North
CEO Choi Requests People Power Party Seoul City Council Members on the 4th to Ensure Thorough Typhoon Preparedness and Safety Measures to Protect Seoul Citizens' Lives and Property
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Choi Ho-jung, the representative member of the People Power Party in the Seoul Metropolitan Council, urged all affiliated council members to make an all-out effort to respond to the approach of Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’ on the 4th.
Since the intensity and radius of ‘Hinnamnor,’ which will make landfall on the Korean Peninsula on the 6th, are comparable to those of Typhoon ‘Maemi’ in 2003, Seoul is concerned about heavy rain damage and the safety of its citizens.
According to the People Power Party in the Seoul Metropolitan Council, Representative Choi delivered an urgent request to People Power Party council members in Seoul to ensure thorough safety measures throughout the entire city, including their constituencies, until the typhoon passes the Korean Peninsula.
The message includes a commitment that People Power Party members will make an all-out effort to prevent additional damage in frequently flooded areas such as Dongjak, Gwanak, Seocho, and Gangnam districts, vulnerable households concentrated in semi-basement areas, and school facilities that have reopened for the second semester, and promises immediate support if cooperation at the council and party level is needed.
In particular, he urged affiliated members to “refrain from reckless and inconsiderate remarks during this serious time and be careful not to post inappropriate comments on social media such as Facebook,” as there is concern that the sincerity and efforts of People Power Party members toward Seoul citizens could be undermined in an instant.

Representative Choi said, “Since the recovery of the special disaster areas designated after the heavy rain in August is not yet complete, citizens’ anxiety is increasing. On September 3rd, President Yoon Suk-yeol instructed to establish the highest level of typhoon response posture regarding the approach of Hinnamnor, so I hope Seoul will respond proactively in line with this. Our People Power Party members will ensure the safety of the entire Seoul area.”
