Government Conducts Intensive Quarantine Inspections at 607 Foreign-Dense Facilities During Chuseok Holiday
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The government has decided to focus inspections on areas with high concentrations of foreigners during the Chuseok holiday.
On the 2nd, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that it discussed special quarantine measures for foreigners staying during the Chuseok holiday, including this plan.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, during the special quarantine period for the Chuseok holiday, the government will strengthen quarantine guidance and promotional activities to ensure compliance with daily quarantine rules, minimize movement and gatherings of foreigners, and actively encourage participation in COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
Son Young-rae, head of the Social Strategy Division at the Central Accident Response Headquarters, explained, "In previous holiday periods such as Chuseok and Seollal, foreigners experienced multiple gatherings and movements mainly in foreigner-dense areas, leading to an increase in community-centered cluster infections. Considering this, we are currently strengthening various guidance and promotions focusing on residential facilities densely populated by foreigners."
First, from the 1st to the 12th, the government will conduct inspections of 607 locations, including foreigner-dense facilities, through 234 personnel from 17 immigration and foreigner-related offices nationwide. The purpose is to check compliance with COVID-19 quarantine rules at workplaces employing foreigners, dormitories, markets, restaurants, and other facilities densely populated by foreigners.
During the holiday period, multilingual notices containing quarantine rule compliance information will be produced and distributed to multi-use facilities, major public transportation, and airports located in foreigner-dense areas.
