Energin High-Pressure Hydrogen Vessel Wins Innovation Award at Hydrogen Exhibition
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The H2 MEET (formerly Hydrogen Mobility+ Show) Organizing Committee announced on the 1st that Enerjin received the Grand Prize at the H2 Innovation Award ceremony. The company was awarded for its high-pressure hydrogen pressure vessel. According to the committee, this vessel was manufactured using a wire winding method that laminates steel wires on the outside of a metal cylinder instead of carbon fiber, a world first. This method is advantageous for producing large-capacity pressure vessels and eliminates tensile stress inside the vessel to prevent cracking. It has obtained various certifications, enabling immediate commercialization.
The Excellence Award in the hydrogen production sector was given to Plazen for its green hydrogen production technology utilizing waste plastic gasification. In the hydrogen storage and transportation sector, the Ship and Offshore Plant Research Institute received the award for its liquefied hydrogen fuel tank for ships, and in the hydrogen utilization sector, Hanmac Controls was recognized for its AOI system that detects composite image defects and faults in metal separator plates for FCEV stacks.
Other Excellence Awards were given to ▲ Daehyun ST for its ‘Hydrogen Discoloration Sensor Tape’ ▲ Loop Energy (Canada) for its ‘Hydrogen Fuel Cell’ ▲ Ether City for its ‘Ultra-high Pressure Hydrogen Storage Vessel for Hydrogen Refueling Stations’ ▲ Solufos (Netherlands) for its ‘Hydrogen Transport Pipe Technology’ ▲ POSCO Mobility Solutions for its ‘Eco-friendly Drive Motor Core EMFree Mold and Manufacturing Technology’ ▲ Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering for its ‘Hydrogen Carrier LNG-Hydrogen Combined Liquefied Gas System’.
Lee Young-cheol, Vice President of Enerjin, which received the Grand Prize, said, "Since there was no domestic code, we designed and manufactured based on the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code and finally obtained certification." He added, "Currently, high-pressure hydrogen storage pressure vessels for hydrogen refueling stations are 100% supplied by foreign companies, but once this product is certified, we will be able to supply directly and actively enter overseas markets."
