Gyeonggi-do Youth Basic Income Applications for Q3 Open from September 1... 250,000 KRW per Quarter
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will start accepting applications from the 1st for the third quarter (July to September) of this year for the 'Youth Basic Income,' which provides 250,000 KRW quarterly to 24-year-old youth.
Applicants must have continuously resided in Gyeonggi Province for more than 3 years as of the application date or have a total residence period of 10 years or more, and must currently be registered residents of Gyeonggi Province. Eligible applicants are 24-year-old youth born between July 2, 1997, and July 1, 1998.
Youth recipients of basic livelihood security benefits are eligible for exceptional retroactive applications. Those who met the residence requirements and were 24-year-old basic livelihood security recipients from the first quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2021 can receive up to 1,000,000 KRW. This measure follows the ordinance amendment and social security change agreement completed last year, allowing lump-sum payments of Youth Basic Income exclusively to basic livelihood security recipients starting from the fourth quarter of last year.
Eligible youth can apply online or via mobile by signing up as members on the Gyeonggi Province job platform, Jobaba.
Applicants should prepare a resident registration abstract (issued after September 1, including the last 5 years or full address history). However, since last year, a public MyData service has been introduced to simplify document submission, allowing automatic submission of the resident registration abstract with the applicant's consent. Basic livelihood security recipients must separately submit a certificate of basic livelihood security recipient status.
Existing recipients who agreed to automatic application last quarter will be subject to review without a separate application. However, if there are changes in personal information or if retroactive applications are desired for the fourth quarter of last year through the second quarter of this year, applicants must update their information within the application period.
After verifying the applicant's age and residence period, the province will issue 250,000 KRW in local currency in electronic card or mobile form starting from the 20th of next month for the third quarter.
Selected recipients will receive a confirmation message via text, and the card will be delivered to the address provided during application.

After receiving the card, registering it through the customer center or mobile app allows immediate use like a check card at traditional markets or small business establishments within the registered area. However, usage is restricted at department stores, large supermarkets, corporate supermarkets (SSM), entertainment establishments, and similar venues.
