Cultural Heritage Administration's Budget for Next Year 1.2935 Trillion Won... Increase of 92.1 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 31st that it has prepared the 2023 budget and fund government proposal at 1.2935 trillion KRW. This amount is a 7.7% (92.1 billion KRW) increase from this year's 1.2014 trillion KRW. The Cultural Heritage Administration stated, "The expansion of the financial scale reflects the new government's commitment to steadily carry out the national agenda related to cultural heritage, 'Preservation and Utilization of Cultural Heritage in Partnership with the People.'"
The increase in the budget for maintaining the original form of nationally designated cultural properties such as National Treasures and Treasures was remarkable. ▲ Cultural heritage repair and maintenance: 59.4 billion KRW ▲ Establishment of cultural heritage preservation and restoration infrastructure such as the Cultural Heritage Repair Materials Center and Regional Cultural Heritage Research Centers: 43.3 billion KRW ▲ Management of palace cultural properties including restoration of Gyeongbokgung and Deoksugung Palaces: 13.3 billion KRW ▲ Support for preservation and investigation of buried cultural properties including creation of historical and cultural spaces for excavated relics: 9.5 billion KRW.
By sector, the budget is allocated as follows: ▲ Cultural heritage preservation: 681.4 billion KRW ▲ Cultural heritage utilization: 131.6 billion KRW ▲ International exchange and World Heritage management: 56.0 billion KRW ▲ Cultural heritage education and research: 77.9 billion KRW ▲ Cultural property protection: 64.3 billion KRW ▲ Palace and royal tomb management: 152.6 billion KRW ▲ Cultural heritage policy and administrative management: 129.7 billion KRW.
