Suncheon City’s Senior Job Program Receives Great Response from Elderly Wanting to Work Again
Total Budget of 12.4 Billion Won, 45 Project Teams, 3,425 Participants... Promoting Vitality of the Silver Generation
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced on the 30th that the senior job project supporting social activities for the silver generation is receiving great responses from participating elderly citizens.
With a total budget of 12.4 billion KRW, 3,425 elderly people are participating in the senior job project across 45 business units.
Participating seniors engage in activities for less than 30 hours per month and within 3 hours per day, receiving activity allowances ranging from 270,000 KRW to a maximum of 710,000 KRW per month.
The senior job project is divided into public interest type, social service type, market type, and employment referral type.
The public interest type includes jobs for public benefit such as volunteering at public facilities and senior-to-senior care, while the social service type involves seniors utilizing their experience to provide services in areas requiring social assistance.
Additionally, the market type involves operating profit-generating stores or manufacturing and sales activities, and the employment referral type dispatches seniors as security guards or cleaners.
The senior job project includes ▲Suncheon Senior Club with 21 projects and 1,530 participants ▲Korean Senior Citizens Association with 10 projects and 770 participants ▲Suncheon YWCA with 3 projects and 150 participants ▲Jorye Senior Welfare Center with 1 project and 150 participants ▲Rinje Senior Welfare Center with 1 project and 150 participants ▲and 12 projects in various departments and townships with 675 participants.
