Heavy rain exceeding 30mm per hour will fall in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam region until the afternoon.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, due to the rain cloud band accompanying a low-pressure system passing through the central region from the West Sea, currently, about 15mm of rain per hour is falling in the southwestern part of Gyeonggi Province and northern Chungnam, and about 5mm per hour in other central regions, Jeonbuk, and Jeju Island.
Heavy rain warnings are in effect for the southern part of Gyeonggi and some areas of northern Chungcheongbuk-do, and rain is expected to expand nationwide on the 31st. The Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam region will experience heavy rain around 30mm per hour until the afternoon. From the daytime of the 30th to the early morning of the 31st, strong and heavy rain around 30mm per hour will also fall in the southern and mountainous areas of Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, and northeastern Gyeongbuk, with an expansion of heavy rain warning areas.
By the 31st, more than 120mm of heavy rain is expected in the southern Gyeonggi, southern Gangwon, central and northern Gangwon mountainous areas, northern Chungcheongbuk-do, and northeastern Gyeongbuk regions. The central region, northern Jeonbuk, northern Gyeongbuk, the five West Sea islands, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo will receive 30 to 80mm of rain, while southern Jeonbuk, Jeonnam region, southern Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam region, and Jeju Island will see 5 to 40mm of rain.
The rain will begin to stop from the western regions and is expected to cease by the afternoon of the 31st. Rainfall is expected to continue until early morning on the 31st in the Seoul metropolitan area, until morning in the Chungnam and Jeolla regions, until morning in Yeongseo Gangwon and Chungbuk, and until afternoon in Yeongdong Gangwon and Gyeongsang regions. The southern Gyeongbuk east coast and Gyeongnam coastal areas will see rain continuing until night.
The highest daytime temperature on the 30th is expected to be between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, and after the rain stops on the 31st, late summer heat around 30 degrees Celsius is expected to continue. Due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the influence of precipitation, fine dust concentrations are expected to be at a 'Good' level across all regions.
