Korea's 'Folk Music Festival' Kicks Off at Imjingak on September 17... 2,000 Free Seats Available
South Korea's representative folk music festival, the 'Paju Folk Festival,' will kick off on the 17th of next month.
The Paju Urban Tourism Corporation announced on the 28th that it will hold the '2022 Paju Folk Festival' at 4 p.m. on September 17 at the Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Outdoor Performance Hall under the theme "A Greater Paju, Singing Peace through Folk!"
This performance, directly planned and organized by the corporation since last year, was held online last year due to COVID-19. This year, as it will be an in-person concert interacting with the audience for the first time in three years, the corporation plans to showcase the essence of folk music through its own performance planning capabilities.
The festival will feature a large number of top-tier musicians. The artists, finalized through feedback from the 'Citizen Performance Promotion Committee' composed of opinion leaders from various fields, include in the first part: ▲ Ang Ha-young ▲ Ilgi Yebo (Nadeul) ▲ Dongmulwon ▲ Kim Hyun-sung and Le Band ▲ Oksang Dalbit; and in the second part: ▲ Daseot Songarak ▲ Im Baek-cheon ▲ Yeohaeng Sketch ▲ Lee Jeong-seok × Jeon Won-seok × Lee Gyu-seok ▲ Yang Hee-eun ▲ Yuk Joong-wan Band.
Jung Hak-jo, president of the corporation, said, "We will create a high-quality performance that truly satisfies citizens who have not been able to fully enjoy culture due to the prolonged pandemic," adding, "Through the lyrical melodies of folk, we will dream of hope and do our best to make this a festival of peace that achieves harmony between regions and generations."
Gwon In-wook, who serves as the co-chairman of the 2022 Paju Folk Festival organizing committee for the second consecutive year, expressed his ambition, saying, "We will raise the cultural brand status of Paju through the best festival for those who have cherished and anticipated folk music."
The performance can be viewed free of charge by anyone at the venue, with 2,000 temporary seats prepared on-site and on the outdoor lawn of Pyeonghwa Nuri Park, without separate reservations.

Strict disinfection of all seats before the performance will be conducted, and continuous mask-wearing will be mandatory. Masks and hand sanitizers will be placed throughout the venue to encourage voluntary hygiene among attendees. The strategy includes ensuring audience safety and the emotional impact of the performance through professional security, medical personnel, and volunteers such as exemplary drivers.
